Hay up, I’ve moved house… again! I am now living in what will be my house for the rest of my degree, which seems pretty crazy. It might be a bit of an understatement to say I love it. Although I’ve been here over a week and the boiler is still a mystery to me. I think it always will be. I’ve been pretty busy over the last month, what with the Christmas period, going away and working. So, I’ll give you a little round up.
December brought an unwelcome number of assignments, finishing up in a group presentation. Ours could only be described as slick, to be fair though we had worked really hard on it and put in a lot of hours into making as good as possible. After this I whizzed back north to the Lakes for a night before I headed to Meribel for five days.
Meribel was somewhat chaotic, with lots of catching up with people, training the new chalet staff, skiing and, of course, drinking. However, it was super lovely to open up the chalet I closed in April. There’s something therapeutic about opening up the shutters of a chalet that has been closed for the last six months. It feels like you’re getting rid of the old and making space for the new, which is guess what a lot of people do a few weeks later at the start of the new year. That and the bracing winter air of the mountains will clear everything, including the worse of hangovers!
And then I came home to go straight into work the next day. Which is where I spent most days. As a result of hitting Meribel a little too hard and the end of term I then proceeded to catch a very nasty cold, which rendered me sofa bound for most of the holidays, so that was annoying. I did feel very bad for my friend, Jessie, who’d come all the way from Australia via South Africa, for being such a mardy bum.
That brings us up to the new year. A time for reflection, particularly on any new goals for the year. People have asked me what my resolutions are, but I don’t particularly have any. I was already working on some! I have finally attempted to join a group. A swim club to be a bit more specific. There’s a certain part of me who needs to be pushed in a very specific way, and I’m just too lazy to do it myself! What can I say, I know my weaknesses! I guess what I’m hoping is that by swimming more my surfing will also come along.
And that about wraps up the past month or so, it’s been a busy time with lots going on, although lots of fun has been had and an excessive number of movies have been watched (highly unlike me!).
